FAQ

Key Questions

Where are you located?

550 S. Watters Road, Suite 261 Allen, TX 75013

My building, which has the word ‘Yeager’ across the top, is at the intersection of Bethany and 75 right next to Watters Creek.

What forms do I need to fill out before our first session?
There are two forms to complete.

The first is here and simply needs to be read and signed. It tells you about my policies, which we will go over in our first session.

The second is here and is one that will take you about 10 minutes to answer the questions to. Please bring both completed to our first session, or you can email them to me completed at Tyler@SkyboundCounseling.com. Completing these beforehand lets us jump right into your session.

Do you take insurance?
I only take BlueCross BlueShield PPO plans. You can usually see PPO on the insurance card, but you can always call customer service to be sure.
Where do I go when I get inside the building?
When you walk into the building, you can take either the elevator just past the front desk or the stairs just to the left of the front desk.

When you walk out of the elevator on the second floor, there is a waiting area. This is just to the left when you get to the top of the stairs. You can wait there until the time of your session, and I will come and get you.

What brand of tissue do you have?
A crucial question. Only Puffs. Ever. They’re the best.

More Questions

What is your cancellation policy?
Sessions that are not cancelled prior to 24 hours will be charged the full amount of the session unless they are cancelled for an emergency, sickness, etc.

Sessions cancelled with greater than 24-hour’s notice will not be charged. However, repetitive cancellations will be considered problematic and may hinder your ability to pursue counseling.

Do you work with people who aren’t sure at all what’s going on with their gender or only with transgender people?
While I frequently work with transgender people, it is also quite common for me to meet with people who really are just unsure about their gender and who need help exploring it and figuring it out.
Are you convinced LGBTQ people are the best?
Yea, there’s really no question.
How long are sessions?
Sessions are approximately 55 minutes in length.
How much will I have to pay for my sessions if I am using insurance?
If you are paying with a BCBS TX PPO plan, then I will put a credit card on file for you. After I file the claim, it takes BlueCross a few weeks to process it.

After they pay me their share, your card will be charged whatever is remaining. For most PPO plans, this is a co-pay of $20-$30, but for some there is no co-pay. Still for others, there is a percent split until a deductible is met, and for some, you pay the full amount until the deductible is met.

You are responsible for the full cost of the session. It is important to make sure you know how your insurance plan works from them, so you will know how much you will be charged for each session.

Do you take credit cards?
Yes, I take all major forms of credit cards. Some HSA cards will work, but others will not. If you are unsure, we can test it in advance with a small amount.
Do you help people find a romantic relationship or only help couples?
I have worked with many individuals on the dating process for them – and many have found a lasting relationship, to my joy.
Do you work with BiPolar, Depression, Anxiety, and PTSD?
Yes. Many of the people I work with have one or more of these and have made major headway.
Have you ever run from the room screaming after listening to a client?
Only once a month. It always frightens the rest of the building, especially during lunch.
Do you work with all genders?
Absolutely.
How much do you charge?
I charge $120/session. However, I always have two people that I help at a very low rate ($10/session), because I know some people simply cannot afford therapy. If you genuinely cannot afford it, you are welcome to reach out to me to see if one of those two places is currently available.
Do you work with people in polyamorous relationships or various kinds of non-traditional relationships?
Yep. I’m happy to help people in whatever kind of relationship they pursue.
Do you help people with sexual struggles in relationships?
Yes, it’s altogether common for this to be a concern or even central concern of a romantic relationship.
Is there any struggle or issue you cannot work with?
I do not have the experience and skills to work with those with eating disorders or addictions.

However, if you are an LGBT+ person with such struggles, I know of many safe therapists who specialize in this area. I would be happy to refer you to them personally. Please give me a call. I will help you get connected.

Do you work weekends?
When we cannot find a time during the week that works, I will do a few sessions during the weekend.
Can you recommend a psychiatrist for medical issues related to mental health?
I know of several I have personally checked out myself. I want to make sure I send my LGBT family only to those who are safe for us.
Do you work evenings?
Yes, I work a few evenings.
Do you like your own relationship with your partner?
He’s my favorite person in the world – except when he takes my ice cream from the freezer!
Can you recommend doctors for those needing to transition as a transgender person?
Yes, I know of ones that will work with adolescents 16+ for HRT and ones that will work with younger for blockers. I also have personally checked out doctors who are trans-affirming and will work with adults.
